Earth Day Exclusive

Earth Day

As tree doctors, we love to celebrate Earth Day here at ArborScape. Earth Day is an important reminder of the significance of environmental conservation and sustainability, which is something we try to practice every day. This year’s theme is all about “Planet vs. Plastics”, as we’ve seen a dramatic rise in plastic pollution around the world.

Earth Day is also an important initiative in that it invites everyone worldwide to unite efforts to take action toward a healthy planet and bright future.

It’s meant to bring people together to spread awareness so that everyone can do their part in making that difference for the generations to come. The more people there are who are consistent in their sustainable habits, the sooner we can reach our goal of a healthier, greener planet.

This is where ArborScape’s sustainability policy comes into play. Since day one, we’ve done our best to implement sustainable practices to reduce our carbon footprint.

We work hard to reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever we can. Whether it’s keeping engines from running excessively on job sites, reusing parts on our equipment, or using the wood from sites for repurposing, we believe the little things can make the biggest difference.

ArborScape is more than just tree trimming or removals; we focus on total tree care, which includes root fertilizations, soil injections, and bug spraying. These specialized treatments can help keep your trees healthy throughout the blooming season and even into dormancy.

Trees also give more benefits than we think. While we can always appreciate sitting in the shade of a tree, our urban canopies reducing temperatures, and the blooms on fruit trees, trees don’t stop offering benefits even after it’s been felled.

We believe in using every part of the tree that we can, which is why we’ve added our sustainable additional services. It’s not just about money, it’s about using viable materials that are readily available instead of overconsuming the wrong products, such as plastic.

Sustainable Services

Our additional services focus on repurposed wood from job sites. Sometimes a client may request us to chop up the wood into logs, but in case they don’t, we’ll do it ourselves back at the shop so we can resell for a reasonable price. This keeps wood local and, since we’re a small local business, you’re putting your money right back into the local economy.

We sell a mix of hardwood and pine firewood in chords and offer delivery or pickup! You can call us at our main office at (303) 806-TREE to get more information on pricing.

Another service we’re excited to now offer is our Denver double ground mulch. We take the wood and chips from sites and send them through our chipper, then grind that again to get a softer consistency of mulch that is best for plant health.

Mulch is a useful tool for gardens and trees as it can act as a protective barrier for plants, which is a necessity for the harsh weather we deal with here. Mulch helps conserve and extend water availability; a must-have given how high in altitude we are. And by conserving water, this helps moderate temperatures so your plants or trees don’t go into shock.

And since it’s made of organic materials, like bark and wood chips from job sites, mulch can provide a lot of beneficial nutrients to the surrounding soil.

While we’re still in the process of making more mulch, we do have four options to choose from. Our Denver Metro double grind mulch comes in shades of natural brown, espresso brown, black, and red.

Another way we recycle wood is through one of our favorite hobbies, woodworking. When we’re not busy climbing in your trees, we love to mill wood for home improvement projects that we can custom-make or work with you on a specific design.

So, if you’re interested in learning how to create more sustainable tree care habits, check out our website on how we can work with you. And if you’re curious about how to get involved on Earth Day, check out ways to get involved.

Whether it’s on your own, with some friends, or an organization in your community, no act is too small. As we mentioned, the little things can make a big difference.
